Response To Articles From 5/7/10

Alright, I got ripped on by a couple of my friends over the fact that I gave the ring of heart respect in the article from last week. I don’t care, I stand by what I wrote, however, I will ALWAYS make fun of that ring, just because... at first glance (especially with the powers of the other rings) it sucks. Also, I witnessed a gangsta moment on Monday when I was getting dinner with my friend from work (so this hits the article from 2 weeks ago). He had his bike chained up outside our building (which is on a pretty busy street in NYC) and he had been out there at 2 in the afternoon and it was fine. I got into work at about 5:15 in the evening (starting my shift), we went to get dinner at around 6:30/7, and when we passed a bike frame right outside our building he stopped and said, “what the hell... that’s my bike.” I laughed because he was so calm about it (though this particular friend is often relaxed and sometimes you can’t read his emotions), but then I realized he wasn’t kidding. Somebody had cut his chain, snatched his seat (which had hex screws... which means you need a special screwdriver to get them loose), and jacked his tires... all that remained was the frame, pedals, and handlebars. He took a picture and was a good sport about it, but the more I think about it the more irritated I get. Don’t get me wrong, I crack up thinking about the incident (especially my friend’s face/reaction), but deep down I’m steaming. How didn’t somebody see this taking place and stop whoever did it?! It’s a busy block at a busy hour; it was impossible to not have anybody see it go down. And it’s not like taking a seat and 2 tires off is a normal thing to do; if I had seen it I would have went over there and said something, that much I know for sure. Oh well, time for my buddy to get a new bike now; I feel bad for the guy though. Anyway, enjoy this week’s article; take care my peeps!
